Top Backpacking Destinations began life as an experiment by a frustrated writer and newbie SEO. I wanted a platform to showcase my writing skills as well as putting to work the new knowledge I was picking up. It didn’t remain an experiment for long.

I haven’t always been a travel lover. Until i was 18 the only holidays i’d been on were 1 week breaks by the pool in France and Spain and I was always ready to get home by the end of it. I didn’t like leaving home for long and was always more comfortable on the sofa in front of the telly than out and about in the unknown.

The change came when i finished school and, for some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to go and teach English in Roatan, a small island off the north coast of Honduras. I was there for 12 months, living in a small village and teaching in the local school and that was me bitten by the bug. Since then I haven’t been able to stop and have travelled all around the world, loving every second of it. I’m always looking for the next place to visit and don’t think i’ll be happy until every last one has been ticked off the list.

But, unfortunately, my trips have to be interspersed between day to day life and work. Having previously worked in the social media department of a global PR company I now work in SEO and this is what funds my jaunts around the world. It’s now also helping me tell more people about those jaunts and share the experiences i have along the way.

What started out as an experiment has now become a passion, hope you like it…
